Older Americans are dying on the job, retirement age to blame
Fox Business - 8/2/2017- As the retirement age for working Americans pushes beyond 65, an increasing number of older employees are dying on the job when compared with the overall population, according to an Associated Press analysis of federal statistics. Even while the number of overall workplace fatalities across all ages has decreased over time, for Americans 55 and older, the rate of fatal accidents was much higher than the average population. The AP analysis showed that the workplace fatality rate for all workers decreased by 22% between 2006 and 2015, while the rate of fatal accidents among older workers during that time period was 50% to 65% higher than for all workers, depending on the year.
