Market Watch - 5/7/2017 - Jeffrey Bartash - When the U.S. is creating lots of new jobs but the government’s official yardstick for economic growth is pitifully weak, put your trust in hiring. What that tells us: The economy is doing just fine, thank you. The economy added 211,000 new jobs in April, the government reported Friday, a robust gain that puts worries about a tepid 79,000 increase in March to rest.
