Hackers get access to 50 million Facebook accounts

Consumer Affairs - 9/28/2018 - Mark Huffman - Facebook reports hackers breached its system and gained access to some 50 million login credentials, in effect giving them access to the accounts. The breach was uncovered three days ago when it was found that attackers exploited a vulnerability in the platform's "View As" code, a feature that allows users to see what their profile looks like when another person is accessing it. "This allowed them to steal Facebook access tokens which they could then use to take over people’s accounts," Facebook said in a security update. "Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so they don’t need to re-enter their password every time they use the app." Read more @ https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/ha ... 92818.html
