Hackers get access to 50 million Facebook accounts

Consumer Affairs - 9/28/2018 - Mark Huffman - Facebook reports hackers breached its system and gained access to some 50 million login credentials, in effect giving them access to the accounts. The breach was uncovered three days ago when it was found that attackers exploited a vulnerability in the platform's "View As" code, a feature that allows users to see what their profile looks like when another person is accessing it. "This allowed them to steal Facebook access tokens which they could then use to take over people’s accounts," Facebook said in a security update.
