Chambersburg man loses $3,000 in Publisher's Clearing House scam

ABC 27 News - 7/18/2018 - Myles Snyder A Chambersburg man lost $3,000 after wiring the money to claim what he thought was a legitimate lottery prize, state police said.cThe 87-year-old man was told he had won the grand prize in the Publisher's Clearing House lottery game but had to wire the $3,000 to cover fees and taxes.cThe Federal Trade Commission says the scam is an "oldie but a goodie" for scammers, who typically ask their victims to send money by Western Union or MoneyGram, or by getting a reloadable card or gift card, which makes it nearly impossible to trace the money.
