AG issues warning on new bank fraud scam

Lenconnect .com - 2/10/2020 - Daily Telegram Staff - A new scam is circulating which attempts to extract a consumer’s banking information through emails, texts and calls. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a statement warning consumers about the scam that usually begins with a text. The text claims to be alerting a consumer of fraudulent use of their debit card. It may read like the following: “FREE TEXT from Fifth Third Bank #2579 To continue using your card, please verify this transaction: 02/05 – Gucci Merchant $1632.00.
