W.Va. AG Warns Consumers of Social Media Grant Scam
5 News WDTV.com - 5/29/2017 - CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Attorney General's office is warning consumers about a social media grant scam. Morrisey's office says impostors are using social media to issue government grants. The scammers will pretend to be people the victim trusts like friends of family who ask the victim to send money through a prepaid debit card or wire transfer for a government grant that never materializes. Morrisey's office warns that you should never have to pay money for a government grant, and anytime someone asks you to is a big red flag.
