New tax refund scam: You end up with the money and then the thieves move in

Kansas City Star - 2/13/2018 - Mark Davis - In the latest tax scam, crooks are depositing falsely claimed tax refunds into taxpayers’ own bank accounts, according to an alert from the Internal Revenue Service. It’s a “new twist” on an old scam and it is spreading quickly, according to the IRS update Tuesday of an alert first issued Feb. 2.
