DTE Energy warns Michigan businesses of new phone scam threatening shutoffs
Michigan Live - 4/15/2018 - Jessica Haynes - Michigan business owners have lost more than $100,000 so far in 2018 because of a sophisticated voiceover scam that is preying on their emotions, according to DTE Energy's top security official. Michael Lynch, chief security officer of the Michigan-based energy and utility company, said more than 150 businesses in the southeast portion of the state have reported a scam in which voiceover software is used to call establishments and threaten utility shutoffs if an amount of money isn't paid.
