Scams & Swindles: Business bilked out of $5,000 in SCE scam

Daily Press - 4/25/2018 - Kevin Trudgeon - Most of the scams we discuss in this column involve individuals, but entire businesses can easily find themselves the target of con artists.That was the case last week when one local company got swindled out of thousands of dollars before realizing it was being taken for a ride. It all started when the business — which asked not to be identified but wanted to share its story in order to ensure others don’t fall for the scam — received a call from someone claiming to be a tech with Southern California Edison.
