CBS SF Bay - 5/12/2017 - SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — As tens of thousands of computers in countries around the world were being attacked by hackers demanding bitcoin payment on Friday, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and its state partners were urging internet users to take measures to protect themselves online. The ransomware attacks that crippled computer systems in over 60 countries Friday were likely caused when people either clicked on or downloaded malicious files.
